Meet the Expert:

Mike O’Mara

Account Director

What are you most proud of?
That’s easy—my kids, Lily and Finnegan.
The secret to a great brand is...
Honesty. You need to know who you are, what you do and stick to it.
What talent do you wish you had?
I’ve always wanted to learn how to play musical instruments. More precisely, I wanted to play them well.
If you had to live on a desert island, what would you miss most?
I’d miss the color of leaves in the fall and snowball battles. I really enjoy the changing of the seasons. (I probably wouldn’t miss shoveling.)
Is there any food that helps you think more creatively?
Definitely Yerba Mate (A tea-like drink from South America). The first few sips are a bit challenging, but once you get into it the brain starts flying.
What’s your favorite sports team?
The Bad News Bears, under the management of Walter Matthau’s Morris Buttermaker.
What frustrates you the most?
There are actually two things that drive me crazy. The first is panic. Panic will get you absolutely nowhere. Secondly, people who don’t bring solutions to the table when faced with a challenge. Suffice it to say, panicky, non-solutions-oriented people need not apply.
Tell us about your pets
I am the proud owner of Kimba, a South Baltimore Brown, aka mutt. She’s a troublemaker but an awesome companion. Pets are ultimately accepting and don’t ask questions. Who doesn’t love that?
What was growing up like for you?
My dad was a foreign correspondent for a major daily so I probably got to see more of the world as a kid then most people get to see in their whole life. A lot of people are frightened of things they don’t understand. Traveling helped me rise above those fears, and I treasure that.
What are your favorite and least favorite TV programs?
“Six Feet Under” was brilliant. “Entourage” is great. I typically don’t go for shows that revolve around lawyers, doctors or police detectives—so I’m usually out of luck in primetime.
What are your favorite web sites?
nytimes.com
What do you like most about working at IMRE?
The pace is fast, the work is creative, we’ll take a risk and innovation always rules!
