Meet the Expert:
Brian Remsberg
Account Manager
What got you into this business in the first place?
Initially, I was planning to be a sportscaster. But then I
realized I’d have to spend five years or so covering minor league games in a
place like Butte, Montana (no offense, I’m sure it’s a beautiful town)
before maybe one day getting a chance to cover the majors.
What attracted you to IMRE?
The leadership—I knew immediately it was going to be a great
place to grow and learn and I felt comfortable with the agency’s vision from
the start.
What's your favorite sports team?
The Detroit Tigers. I grew up in the Detroit area listening
to long-time broadcaster Ernie Harwell. I remember watching every single game. I
actually had the great fortune to work for the team in 1999 / 2000 when they closed
historic Tiger Stadium and opened Comerica Park. In 2006, I traveled to Detroit three
straight weekends to watch the Tigers make a run to the World Series.
What was your “finest moment”?
When I met my future wife in Spanish class. To attract her attention I built
a piñata fort in the back of the classroom to encapsulate my desk. She was impressed
with my ability to build a sturdy structure.
Is there any food that helps you think more creatively?
Coffee—it’s a food right?
The secret to a great brand is...
The people who consume it. Customers drive brands to greatness. If they
like it, they’ll share their experiences with others and drive more sales.
What was growing up like for you?
It was an all-day sports-a-thon. We played baseball, basketball and football
from sun up to sun down. My best friend, who also loved sports, lived across the street. During
one of our games I tackled him and he broke his arm. I’m not competitive or anything though.
What frustrates you the most?
Left-lane drivers on the highway. If you’re not passing, please
move over. Thank you.
What talent do you wish you had?
I wish I could play the banjo. You can’t help but smile when you
hear a banjo and some bluegrass music.
What was a big influence in your career?
At Purdue University’s Sports Information office, I had the chance
to work on several high-profile events with direct access to reporters. Most of them were
sports beat writers, so they were receptive and approachable. That experience gave me a
lot of confidence to work with tougher media later.
What do you do for fun outside of work?
Referee my two boys (1 and 2) and play golf.
What are your favorite web sites?
CnnMoney.com and ESPN.com.
What do you like most about working at IMRE?
Of course, the people are great. But I also love working with clients who trust
us to get the job done in our own way.
